In our clinic, professional teeth cleanings are performed by our dental hygienist colleagues using the most modern EMS AIRFLOW® devices.
This is the gentlest tool available on the market today for removing plaque and other deposits accumulated on the teeth.

Why is this necessary?
Our mouths are essentially a wet (saliva-filled) environment where bacteria adhere to non-moving structures – such as teeth, elements of orthodontic appliances, certain dental restorations, and surfaces of implants – forming increasingly complex communities over time.
This can lead to gum inflammation, tooth decay, periodontal disease, or even inflammation around implants, and may negatively impact certain general health conditions, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and joint inflammations.

To prevent the above conditions and based on personalized recommendations from our dental hygienist colleagues, we recommend regular professional teeth cleanings.

What is the procedure for such a treatment?

01

Step 1: DIAGNOSIS

After a brief consultation, an assessment of the teeth and gums is performed initially.

Steps 2 and 3: DISCLOSURE and MOTIVATION

Subsequently, our dental hygienist colleagues make the plaque and other deposits visible using a removable plaque disclosing agent, then show these to our patients, explaining and demonstrating the correct oral hygiene technique. (This can also be done at the end of the treatment.)

Step 4: AIRFLOW®

This is followed by the application of the AIRFLOW® device. The machines blast erythritol powder (a sweetener) of very fine particle size onto the teeth combined with air and water. This creates a mixture of such consistency that it does not damage the tooth enamel but effectively removes discoloration and deposits, as well as initial, smaller tartar.

05

Step 5: PERIOFLOW®

The PERIOFLOW® function of the unit is only applied to patients with periodontal disease or, if necessary, next to implants.

06

Step 6: PIEZONE®PS

Removal of more mature tartar is done using an ultrasonic tip.

Steps 7 and 8: GUIDANCE and RECALL

If necessary, our dental hygienist colleagues refer our patients for dental check-ups and, based on individual needs and conditions, suggest the next scheduled professional cleaning.
